Oh I am late as usual. It’s the last days of summer vacation and school will start tomorrow…well..Jana will start tomorrow whereas Josh will start Tuesday so there will be another day for me to get all ready.
I have been crafting a Schultüte (huge sugar cone filled with sweets and little toys that german kids get for their very first day of school) and will show some pics later.

Now as we will have some guests like Josh’s grandparents and god mothers and god fathers I thought of maybe doing some little favor boxes in shape of school bags for them.
It is a simple little box but it took me some tries to finally find the version that worked best for me and I will provide you with some kind of template later in case you’d prefer to create it digitally so you could just drag some digi papers over and print it out. I used a metric grid to draw my box but I am sure it transfers easily on an inch sized grid, too.

I created my boxes “traditionally” using pencil and scissors. I  stamped some of my Clearstamp Mini motives on and decorated all with some faux stitching that I drew with a thin black pen. When all was done I glued it together and let dry. Then I applied the belts that I cut from the remaining paper. Just measure them a slight bit longer than the back of the box so you can fold them to glue them down.
Well, that’s it. You can now start to fill the little school bags with M&Ms or Gummibears!

Supplies:
sturdy cardstock
scissors or craft knife
glue
bone folder (optional)
corner rounder (optional)
clearstamps (optional)
printer (optional)

How to:
You can or print and cut my template to create a template for yourself and use it to sketch it on the desired paper ,  you can simply print  my template on your chosen cardstock  or you can decorate it digitally and then print out the finished design.

No matter how you decide  doing it you will then have to cut all out and fold on the indicated lines. In case you still need to decorate your box, you may want to do it  before glueing it together. I also rounded the corners of the school bag’s front flap.

When all is done glue it. While it is drying you can cut some shoulder belts. I measured them a slight bit longer than the back of my box, folded the ends  and glued them to the back.
Your box is almost ready now, the only thing you have to do is to fill it with some little favors like M&Ms or Gummibears!

1. Gather your supplies and trace and cut template

2. Fold along the indicated lines. I used a bone folder so it folds easier

3. I rounded the corners of the box flap but you can leave it as is. Then I prefolded it, with the sloppy side inside.

4. Now you can start to decorate your box. I stamped on it and drew faux stitching along the edges.

5. Now glue your box together. Then I measured the belts using the back of the box as a rough guide.
I cut the belts from the leftover paper of the cardstock I used. Then I eyeballed the width and cut
2 strips.

6. Decorate them with some faux stitching if you like and fold the edges. Then glue them to the back

That’s it! You are done! Now fill your little schoolbag box with sweets! Have fun! Hope you liked my little tutorial!

I also decided to do some sugar cone tags to use them as decoration on my coffee table napkins. I stamped the cones of my Clearstamps “School” set with the boyish star motif on cardstock and colored them in. I still have to cut them out but I am sure they will look cute on the table.

Print this cute Easter bunny on a piece of  InkJet Cotton
Hasi auf ein Stück Ink Jet Printing Cotton ausdrucken.

Now cut the bunny out, leaving a seam allowance
Hasi großzügig ausschneiden

Then cut out a piece of matching fabric (it has to be larger than the bunny) and pin bunny and fabric, right sides together
Etwas größeres Stück als Hasi zuschneiden. Hasi und Stoff rechts auf rechts mit Stecknadeln zusammen stecken.

Sew around bunny, leaving a little opening for turning
Mit der Nähmaschine Konturen des Hasi unnähen. Unten ca. 3 – 4 cm Wendeöffnung lassen.

Now trim and clip curves. Leaving a little bit of fabric at the opening makes it easier to stitch it closed
Jetzt sind Stoff und Hasi zusammengenäht, die Konturen des Hasis nochmal auf dem Stoff ausschneiden. An der Wendeöffnung etwas Stoff stehen lassen, erleichtert später das Schliessen

Turn softie and iron it (NO STEAM!). This will make it washable.
Wenden und bügeln, damit ist das Softie auch waschbar.

Stuff and sew opening closed.
Mit Bastelwatte füllen und Wendeöffnung zunähen.

My sweet CTMember Pauline just used some of her paper scraps (mostly from Sausandesigns-Sing Spring) but you can use whatever you find in your stash..you could even use paper from old catalogues!

Now cut or punch out circles from your papers, Pauline also punched out some little stars inside of some of the paper circles. Let your imagination flow! Then get your or your friend’s (or neighbor’s) sewing machine and just sew all those circles together. If it seems to get complicated, just arrange them on a sheet of parchment paper and sew all together. Then, when you are done, just slowly tear off the parchment paper and voilà : you are owner of a cute little paper garland!

Now you can hang the garlands from your windows or decorate the tree or you can use them for a cute little dinner table decoration:
For this little tree you can or use a ready made tree from the thrift store or you decorate some styrofoam cones with glitter ribbons or whatever you can think of. I think you can find those cones in floral shops. When you decorated them, just wrap the paper garland around the tree. If you are doing more than one tree, it will make a wonderful and unique decoration for christmas dinner table.

1. Print faux stamps on colored or white cardstock using this program. You may want to apply the following settings:

2. Now the Sausandesigns’ Snailmail Clearstamps will fit exactly on the “stamps”. Stamp them on and color them.
2. Dann passen die Motive der Sausandesigns Schneckenpost genau auf eine “Briefmarke”.
Mit den Schneckenpost bestempeln und nach Wunsch colorieren:

3. If you printed on colored cardstock but would like to have colored snails you have to  stamp them again on white paper, color them and then cut them out. Then glue them on top of the stamps motif.
3. Farbige Schnecken bekommt man, in dem man die Schnecke nochmal auf weißem Papier abstempelt, bunt malt – konturgenau ausschneidet und auf die Schnecke auf dem Cardstock klebt.

You are now ready to use them! Have fun!

How to:
1.  Take your waste bags and fold and cut them lengthwise.

 2.  Then cut the long pieces to size. I have used sandwich paper bags here to measure the size of the final bags. Tape along the long sides using masking tape, then fold over the upper, open side of the bag and punch 2 holes with a hole punch.

3.  Print the pages you have been creating with your graphics software and Karl and Karla. I created them 4″ x 6″ but you should first check the sizes of your bag. Then cut them to size and glue them on front and backside of your bag. (I used the light version for my DD and the greenish version for DS)

4.  Now you can start filling the bags with little treats. When you are done, use wooden skewers to close the bags by poking them through the punched holes. If the skewers are too long, like mine have been, cut them to size. Of course you will have to do this to all your bags

5. Now you are almost done! See how fast this was ?! Now we want to hang the bags.  You can use whatever fits your taste and colors of your bags. I used some ribbons and  fastened them to the skewer from the back of the bag. When you are done, you might want to hang them from somewhere..maybe a thick wooden branch you found on one of your walks in the woods? Be creative! Now tons of fun when creating this fast hybrid Advent Calendar!

Naja, zwar ist heute noch nicht Weihnachten, wohl aber Zeit einmal daran zu denken, denn wie man ja aus Erfahrung weiß, kommt Weihnachten irgendwie immer ganz plötzlich…Grund genug wenigstens über einen tollen, ungewöhnlichen und schnell selbst gemachten hybriden Adventskalender nachzudenken.

But now let’s start with this project that is brought to you by my CTMember Britta!

Jetzt aber los mit dem tollen Adventskalender von Britta:

Here is what you need:

24 sweets or little treats (you may need 25 when you are living in America)
1 roll of cellophane foil
twine, thread, floss, ribbon whatever suits your taste
1 sheet of letter sized (A4) heavy cardstock
hole punch
scissors
digital files: Oh Tannenbaum – Adventskalender  (numbers only from 1 to 24)

How to:
1. Unroll your cellophane roll and lay it flat on the table. Place the little treats and sweets spaciously on it. (image1) Fold the cellophane over and wrap the goodies and treats, tying them off with your floss, twine, ribbon or thread so they look like little candies. (image2)

So wird’s gemacht:
1. Cellophanrolle ausrollen und die 24 Süßigkeiten oder andere Kleinigkeiten großzügig darauf legen. (Bild1) Cellophan darüber schlagen und dann die einzeln Süßigkeiten wie ein Bonbon mit Kordel „abbinden“. (Bild2)

2. Now print the numbers of the Sausan Designs Christmas is… Advent Calendar on heavy cardstock, the size of each number should be around 3 cm (appr. 1.18 inches)
When printed, cut them out, punch a hole in each of them and tie them to each sweet starting with number 24. This means that the calendar will end with number 1. If the ends of your twine are too long clip them to size. And that’s it.

2. Als nächstes die Zahlen des Sausan Designs Oh Tannenbaum Adventskalenders auf festeres Papier ca. 3 cm groß ausdrucken, dann ausschneiden und jeden Anhänger mit einem Loch versehen. Anschliessend die Anhänger an die Kordel binden. Dabei an die oberste Kordel die 24 binden, die „Cellophanwurst schließt ab mit der 1. Die zu langen Kordelenden abschneiden – fertig!
 

The calendar is ready and could already be hung at your door
Theoretisch kann man den Tür Adventskalender jetzt schon so aufhängen.

If you’d like your calendar to look more elegant, simply make a special tag to hang your calendar from there! I printed “Merry Christmas” wordart on Kraft paper,  glued it on heavy cardstock and added some elements of SausanDesigns Christmas is…. Then I punched a hole, added ribbon and was done!

Die dekorativere Variante wäre für oben noch eine Aufhängung zu machen.
Dafür habe ich  „Frohe Weihnachten” auf Kraft Cardstock gedruckt und auf ein Stück Graupappe geklebt, das Ganze mit ein paar Elementen von Sausan Designs Oh Tannenbaum – Christmas is… beklebt,  noch ein dekoratives Band und fertig war’s!

One last hint: To maintain the calendar’s functionality, cut the single candies underneath the following twine!
Und noch ein letzter Tipp:
Um die Funktionalität des Adventskalender zu gewährleisten, schneidet man die einzelen Bonbons immer unter der nächsten Kordelbindung ab.

Hi! I am Lena. Today I will show you how to make an easy peasy little card out of an envelope.

This is what you need:
an envelope, a hole punch (I used a Crop-a-Dile), a craft knife or scissors, a bonefolder (optional), ribbon of your choice, Cardstock, Clearstamps (I used the Sausandesigns’ Borders and Funky Flowers Clearstamp sets) and embellies
Und so geht’s – Let’s get started:

1. Nehmt einen Umschlag
1. Take an envelope

2. Faltet ihn wie eine Karte in der Mitte
2. Fold it in half like a greeting card

3. An der rechten, offenen Seite, mit der Crop-a-Dile ein Loch stanzen
3. Punch a hole on the right, open side of the envelope using a Crop-a-Dile or your favorite punching tool

4. Öffnet die “Karte” wieder und klappt die Klebelasche nach oben. Dann schneidet den rechten Teil der Klebelasche weg und klebt den linken Teil der Lasche zu
4. Open the envelope again and fold the flap open. Then cut the right side of the flap and glue the remaining left part close.

5. Sucht Euch ein schönes PP für außen und ein passendes Ribbon aus. Ich habe hier
Sausandesigns Funky Funky – Bloom verwendet. Fädelt das Ribbon durch die beiden Löcher.
5. Now choose your cardstock and a corresponding ribbon. Then thread the ribbon through the punched holes.

6. Jetzt wird die Innenseite der Karte bestempelt. Ich habe dafür die Sausandesigns Bordüren- und Blumen Sets verwendet.
6. Now stamp the inside of your card. I used the Sausandesigns’ Borders and Funky Flowers Sets.
7. Mit Aquarellstiften kolorieren.
7. Add color to your stamped pattern.

8. Jetzt schneidet ein Tag zu, so daß es in der Größe in die kleine Tasche der rechten Innenseite der Karte passt.
8. Now cut a tag to fit inside the little pocket on the right side inside your card

9. Jetzt die Außenseiten mit dem PP bekleben. Ich habe noch einmal einen Blumenstempel auf farbiges Papier gestempelt, ausgeschnitten und mit 3D Pads aufgeklebt.
9. Cut the cardstock to size and glue it to the outsides of our card. I also stamped a flower stamp on colored paper, cut it out and used a foam pad to make it look dimensional.

10. Innen kann man auch noch etwas mehr dekorieren. (Ich habe hier Sausandesigns Miss Peasley verwendet)

Das brauchen wir: Ein Baumwoll-T-Shirt, Sausan Designs Stempel nach Wahl (hier habe ich Miss Peasley verwendet), Strassaufbügler, Staz-On Stempelkissen, Bügeleisen und Bügelbrett.

Hi! It is me, Teena!
Today I’d like to show you a fab and easy to do project! Some time ago, when I came across some iron-on rhinestones, I thought “Wow! Why not using them with the cool Sausandesigns Clearstamps to create a unique T-Shirt design?!” I will show you how.

This is what you need: A cotton Tee, Sausandesigns Clearstamps of your choice (for this project I have been using the Miss Peasley Alpha), iron-on rhinestones, StazOn stamp pad, iron and appropriate work space like a table or an ironing board.

Und so geht’s – Let’s get started!

1. T-Shirt auf das Bügelbrett legen, ein Stück Pappe in das T-Shirt legen, um einen harten Untergrund zu haben.
Gewünschte Stempel von Sausan Designs auf Acrylblock montieren und mit Staz-On färben.

1. Lay the Tee on your work space (keep in mind that your iron will get hot! ) and fold a piece of newsprint or cardboard to lie flat between the layers of your T-Shirt to prevent the stamp ink of soaking through to the back . Then mount the sausandesigns stamps on your acrylic block and ink them with your ink pad.

2. Auf das T-Shirt stempeln. Man muss sehr fest aufdrücken. Mir hat die Intensität der Farbe am Anfang nicht gereicht, deswegen habe ich den Vorgang drei Mal wiederholt, bis der Abdruck schön schwarz war.
Zum Glück sind es ja Clearstamps, deswegen hat man keine Probleme, noch einmal auf genau dieselbe Stelle zu stempeln.

2. Now stamp them on the Tee. You may want to stamp several seconds to allow the ink to sink into the Tee’s surface. I didn’t like the color after my first attempt so I re-stamped 3 times until I achieved the look I wanted to have. This definitely is no problem when using Clearstamps as you are able to see where you are stamping to.

3. Strassapplikation wie auf der Packung beschrieben auflegen und aufbügeln.

4. Abziehen und fertig!
4. Then lift the backing paper off the rhinestones and you are done!

Und schon hat man ein neues, cooles T-Shirt, das gleich jedem zeigt, wie sehr wir unser Hobby lieben!
Viel Spaß beim Nachmachen!

Für den Blumenumschlag habe ich die Ostereier der Oster-Stempelplatte in einer Maskingtechnik verwendet. Erst habe ich mit verschiedenen Stempelfarben das gefüllte Osterei wie Blütenblätter auf’s Papier gestempelt und dann mit weißer Stempelfarbe das “leere” Osterei darübergestempelt. Das Tag habe ich mit Gesso gestempelt und nach dem Trocknen leicht mit Farbe gewischt, dann mit einem Tombow ausgemalt und auchdas wieder gewischt. Dann ausgeschnitten und auf das Band geklebt – fertig war der Umschlag für ein kleines Buch.

(Verwendete Produkte:Whispers Clear Embossing Powder, Top Boss Clear Embossing Stamp Pad, PaperSalon Key Lime und Denim, Ranger Distress Ink Antique Linen, StazOn Jet Black, Color Box Frost White Pigment Stamp Pad, Sausandesigns German Art Stamps)
Jetzt lasst Euch anstecken und experimentiert ein bisschen mit Gesso, Farben und Stempeln herum! Viel Spaß!

Das ganze Büchlein sah dann so aus:

Dann wollte ich noch ein bisschen Farbe. Und damit das alles auch ein bisschen verwaschen aussah, habe ich zunächst den großen Zeit-Stempel in weißer Pigmentfarbe aufgestempelt und kurz danach mit rot über den noch feuchten weißen Abdruck gestempelt. Fertig war mein Buchcover.

Elegant und nicht annähernd so wild wie mein Buchcover, ist diese Karte von Petra.
Den tollen Hintergrund (Motiv: Wochentage von der Zeit – Stempelplatte) hat sie einfach mit für’s Embossing geeigneter, schwarzer Stempelfarbe aufgestempelt und dann mit klarem Embossingpuder embosst!

Das ist ein super toller Effekt, der zum Anfassen verleitet und in Natura noch viel besser aussieht, als hier auf dem Bild! Noch ein Tipp zum Embossen: wenn das Puder auch nach dem Abklopfen noch an Stellen hängenbleibt, die man nicht embossen möchte, einfach mit einem weichen Pinsel vom Papier wischen.
